image138

Cold connections is the art of joining jewelry components without the use of heat (torches).  We will explore using various hammering techniques, as well as using a rolling mill and dappling blocks to create wonderful texture in our creations.  Participants will also learn how to set rivets to join components which opens up millions of design possibilities.  Making wire bails is also explored.  Students will leave with a piece they have personally designed and created.  No experience is necessary, but helpful.

This class will teach you how to use an inexpensive culinary torch with butane to join metals using brazing, or joining metals without solder.  This method allows you learn how to connect pieces in a copper jewelry design much more easily and with greater initial success than mastering the soldering process.
