I am so excited to announce that I have a fully functioning workshop/classroom at my new shop at 1381 Ohio Ave. N, Live Oak, Florida! Because I have the necessary tools and equipment available, I can now teach jewelry classes on metal working as well as various types of beading techniques.
In addition, I am offering, a Youth Art Jewelry Academy for our preteens and teens who enjoy being creative. Read below to learn more.

In this class, students will learn how to use wire to wrap a cabochon, or flat backed stone, to make a pendant. Basic clasp connections with chain will also be covered and completed. All materials are included, and participants will have a choice of basic stones, or a credit towards one of higher value. No experience is necessary.

After learning the basics of making a five-wire necklace out of copper wire, the next step is to learn how to incorporate accent beads. This class is very similar to the basic Five-wire bracelet class, but takes the extra steps and more time to add the stone. Learning how to make a variety of clasps is also covered, as is apply antique patina. All materials are included. 2-3

This type of bracelet is really popular! Beads are captured and strung between various types of leather. Participants will also learn how to make slide knots which make the perfect closure for this type of bracelet. Leather, metal accent beads and stringing material are included but students will choose from hundreds of beads to purchase at a 20% discount.

In this class, you will learn how to cut and finish your own copper components (shapes), then apply texture using a variety of techniques (hammering or milling), and finally use various patina or alcohol ink methods to apply color to create a pair of original earrings. All materials are included.

In this class, participants will learn the technique of "fold-forming" or folding heated metal to create textures and interest in copper. Students will also learn two different ways to create patina, both antique black and vivid teal blue. They will leave with a completed bracelet.

Ready to spend some quality time with your sweetie? In a Mom & Me: Bubblegum Jewelry Class you can help your sidekick (if needed) with designing a super fun bubblegum bead necklace, choosing from hundreds and hundreds of BIG beads! It's only $25, but if you want to get into the action to make one for yourself, it's only $15 more ($40 total). Children 4 and up would love it, even teens! .
Cold connections is the art of joining jewelry components without the use of heat (torches). We will explore using various hammering techniques, as well as using a rolling mill and dappling blocks to create wonderful texture in our creations. Participants will also learn how to set rivets to join components which opens up millions of design possibilities. Making wire bails is also explored. Students will leave with a piece they have personally designed and created. No experience is necessary, but helpful. Materials are included.

Now let's get really creative! This class is a follow up to Cold Connections Part I which is a prerequisite. Participants will learn to use a piercing (jewelry) saw to be able to cut designs in metal and tab set natural stones. These two techniques will open up a world of design possibilities. Students will complete a pendant using these new skills. Basic materials included

Hand-knotting silk has been practiced for hundreds of years to protect the natural coating on real pearls, however the technique brings all semi-precious stone necklaces to a whole new level. Knotting silk not only makes creations have more drape and beauty, but the pieces are meant to last for generations! Participants will learn the technique of knotting and finishing, and pick up some tips to make this tricky process easier. They will leave with a necklace they designed, knotted and completed created from semi-precious stones. Basic materials included. No experience is necessary.

This is an all-inclusive class teaching participants how to use the basic tools to design and create their own earrings. They will use semi-precious stones and copper or silver metals to make creations they will be proud to wear (or give as a gift). No experience necessary!

This class will teach you how to use an inexpensive culinary torch with butane to join metals using brazing rods, joining metals without solder. This method allows you learn how to connect pieces in a copper jewelry design much more easily and with greater initial success than mastering the soldering process.

In this class, you will learn how to use hammers and texturing tools on an anvil to make a pure copper cuff. Next you'll grind and form your bracelet for comfort and the perfect fit. You'll also learn how to use various hand tools to embellish with either copper or silver tone wire and then give it an antique patina. No prerequisite skills are required. All materials included.

This dainty and attractive bracelet is created from pure copper wire and can be made to fit any wrist size. You will learn to use various tools to form the bracelet and make the clasp from scratch. No jewelry making experience required. All materials included.

What could be more fun than having a night out with your friends, enjoying a refreshing mimosa (with or without champagne), and making a pair of earrings from natural stones? You will learn the techniques needed and choose from several designs and semi-precious stones. Success guaranteed and no experience necessary. All materials included.

Learn how to wrap and connect pearls (or beads) to this silver tone beaded chain to create this dainty necklace. It goes with almost everything and makes a great gift (or to keep!). No experience necessary and all materials supplied including real pearls!

This class teaches you how to use eyepins or wire to link beads in groups of 3 or 5 along with a variety of accent beads. You have a choice of ring and bar clasp or lobster clasp to finish off you creation. Class includes a $10 credit to go towards your choice of gemstone beads.

In this class, you'll learn how to use crimp beads and crimp covers, with beading wire to string gemstone beads with a ring and bar clasp. You'll have a choice of accent beads and can work in silvertone or copper. Class includes $10 credit to be used for beads.

You will be able to use tools and workshop space to complete your own projects.
You will fill out a certification card showing which classes you've taken and which tools you are certified for and sign a waiver. You can then reserve time on certain days to work at your leisure for 1-3 hours at $15 an hour.
1. You will be required to review use of any tool(s) on your first visit with that tool, but I will be available for help if needed.
2. If you use any materials (brazing rods, beads, wire, etc.) you will keep a materials list to pay upon leaving.
Ages: 11-18 years

When: 3:30-4:30 twice a month on Wednesdays.
Cost: $25 a class session or $40 for two paid in advance
What: The academy will teach students a different technique which will be used for a jewelry project each session. Planned creations will start with beginner projects and over time become more difficult, but each one allowing creativity of expression. Students will learn the skills needed to continue making similar pieces of jewelry at home. The class fee covers all materials for the projects.
